Implementation of HealthGuard

In the midst of the global pandemic currently experiencing in every part of the world, the migration strategies of government varies. In the Philippines, several guidelines are being implemented by the national government disseminated to the local government units. Unfortunately, not all LGUs have the same capability and resources to adapt and combat the challenges of Covid-19. As compared to neighbor countries like Taiwan and Singapore, digital tools and big data plays a major role in mitigating and flattening the curve of Covid-19 cases.

During the early stages of Covid-19 in the Philippines, surge of medical health resources has been experienced by the government and all of the hospitals, from the health workers to personal protective equipment (PPE). Aside from the hospital surge, the challenge of tracking and identifying the Covid-19 infected individuals became the most challenging task of local government officials to mitigate the spread of the virus. Despite the significance of integrating information Technology and internet connectivity that aids government to monitor the mobility of individuals to track the transmission of virus, digital divide became a hindrance in doing so.
