About CCSICT

Academic History

The College of Computing Studies, Information and Communication Technology (CCSICT) was established as the Information Technology Department (IT Department) of the Cauayan Polytechnic College (CPC), which is now known as Isabela State University – Cauayan Campus. The IT Department was led by Dr. Shirley S. Marcos until 2004, followed by Professor Loida P. Tapaoan until 2005, Dr. Rodrigo Galanza for the first semester of the School Year 2005 – 2006, and Dr. Mary Jane S. Bitanga from November 2005 to 2013. Dr. Eddie I. Peru assumed the position until November 2014, and then Dr. Mary Jane S. Bitanga was designated as Dean once again, followed by Dr. Betchie E. Aguinaldo in January 2020 until the present.

Before the IT Department, the college was offering programs such as Bachelor of Science and Information Technology (BSIT) and Associate in Information Technology (ACT). In 2004, the Department was renamed to Institute of Information and Communication Technology or IICT in conjunction with the inauguration of the Ramon Magsaysay Information Communications Technology Building.

In accordance with the provisions of the Republic Act (RA) No. 7722, otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994,” the institute offered Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Ladderized (BSIT Ladderized) programs such as PC Operations NC II, Computer Servicing NC II, and Programming NC II effective in the academic year 2007-2008. In 2008, it added two more programs: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and Master in Information Technology (MIT), a graduate school. Since then, it has maintained extraordinary support in the academe, faculty, and students through research, extension, and resource generation in realizing its institutional goals and objectives.

In 2009, through a concerted effort of the Members of the University Board, a Resolution was passed making the Institute of Information and Communications Technology the College of Computing and Information Technology (CCIT), which was later renamed the College of Computing Studies, Information and Communication Technology (CCSICT). The flagship program of the Campus, the Bachelor of Information Technology, which is also labeled as a “Center of Excellence,” was housed under the college. The BSIT program is among the first programs of the ISU Cauayan Campus accredited as Level III by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

At present, the college offers updated curricula for its programs (BSIT, BSCS, BSEMC, MIT, and DIT) and promising facilities with the establishment of its new three-story laboratory building.
